Accountabilities:
As a Senior Python Backend Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain robust backend solutions while collaborating with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality products. You will take ownership of technical implementation, ensure engineering excellence, and contribute to building scalable systems.
- Design and develop backend applications that are efficient, performant, scalable, secure, and maintainable.
- Build and maintain Python-based services, REST APIs, and backend components supporting enterprise applications.
- Ensure software security by applying Software Composition Analysis (SCA) practices, identifying vulnerabilities, and driving remediation efforts.
- Participate in technical design activities, architecture discussions, and implementation planning.
- Gather requirements, validate technical understanding, and maintain clear project documentation.
- Provide accurate project status updates, estimations, and reporting using established development processes and tools.
- Develop and maintain high-quality code through testing practices, including unit testing and automated validation.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product stakeholders to understand user needs and deliver effective solutions.
- Take ownership of projects from technical design through successful deployment and launch.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain consistency, quality standards, and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development methodologies and software delivery processes.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer with strong Python development skills and a proven ability to build complex software systems. You should have experience working with scalable applications, modern development practices, and collaborative engineering environments.
- 8+ years of professional experience with Python, REST APIs, and SQL.
- Strong experience with Git-based source control platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, or similar tools.
- Experience writing and maintaining unit tests using frameworks such as Pytest.
- Intermediate knowledge of software design methodologies including UML, C4, or ArchiMate.
- Experience engineering medium-to-large-scale software systems with complex requirements.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling principles.
- Experience developing frontend and backend applications at scale.
- Proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of Python web frameworks such as Flask or similar technologies is a plus.
- Experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Apache Airflow, Automic Automation, or equivalent tools is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Python package management tools such as UV, Conda, or similar solutions.
- Understanding of HTTP protocols and serialization formats such as JSON and XML.
- Experience with SCA and security platforms such as GitHub Advanced Security, Snyk, Checkmarx, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants and development tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor is advantageous.
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts including inheritance, polymorphism, classes, and instances.
