Job Summary
The Software Engineer Senior, Dynamics 365 CRM / Dataverse, is a hands-on senior engineer who designs, develops, integrates, and supports secure, scalable enterprise solutions across Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Power Platform, and Azure. The role independently solves complex problems, translates functional and non-functional requirements into maintainable designs, and delivers within quality, security, platform, and operational standards. The engineer leads technical work, estimates and decomposes assignments, reviews designs and code, mentors developers, communicates risks, supports production issues, and partners with Product, Business Analysts, QA, architecture, DevOps, operations, and integration teams. The role provides advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis while promoting reusable components, controlled application lifecycle management, reliable integrations, observability, and continuous improvement. This is a senior individual-contributor role without formal people-management responsibility.

The Software Engineer Senior ensures team members are coached through their assignments and show growth at the end of each project. This role is expected to escalate issues to Director/Manager App Dev in a timely manner in order to prevent project delays and take ownership of estimating development effort for these projects. The incumbent must foster a team environment where all members are included in the solution and leadership is aware of all actions being taken. Their team includes other Senior Engineers, Software Engineers, Business Analysts, System Architects, and DBAs. One of the primary responsibilities is to provide L3 Support for the Firmβs applications, which includes timely response to Service Desk issues while managing our bug tracking tool during the course of development and assigning defects to team developers.
Essential Duties:
1. Design, configure, test, and maintain Dynamics 365 model-driven applications and Dataverse solutions. Build C#/.NET plugins, custom APIs, JavaScript/TypeScript extensions, Power Automate flows, and reusable components using sound data-modeling and security practices.
2. Translate functional, non-functional, security, and data requirements into technical designs, estimates, work items, and implementation plans. Assess dependencies, platform constraints, risks, and downstream impacts.
3. Lead design and code reviews, mentor developers, promote engineering standards, estimate and delegate technical work, communicate status, and escalate risks or blockers with recommendations.
4. Communication with project team members including assisting QA with testing of software, assist tech lead and project management with estimation, planning, and project status, and assistance with identifying project issues and risks
5. Develop unit and integration tests; partner with QA; manage solutions, source control, Azure DevOps pipelines, configuration, releases, and deployment troubleshooting. Diagnose production defects using telemetry, complete root-cause analysis, and implement durable fixes.
6. Other duties as assigned, including additional engineering, platform, production-support, or organizational priorities.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Dynamics 365 CRM and Dataverse: model-driven apps, tables, relationships, forms, views, security roles, business rules, solutions, auditing, environment variables, connection references, and administration concepts.
- Extensibility: C#/.NET plugins, custom workflow activities and APIs, JavaScript/TypeScript, Web API, FetchXML, QueryExpression, SDK tools, and supported client extensions.
- Power Platform: Power Automate, solution-aware components, connectors, governance, licensing, service protection, and API limits.
- Azure integration: Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault, App Configuration, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Storage, managed identities, and Microsoft Entra ID app registrations/OAuth.
- Data and APIs: REST, JSON, SQL, mapping, validation, reconciliation, idempotency, concurrency, exception handling, and retries.
- DevOps and ALM: Azure DevOps, Git, pull requests, CI/CD, managed/unmanaged solutions, automated deployment, configuration, and release troubleshooting.
- Quality and security: unit/integration testing, secure coding, code review, telemetry, performance analysis, privacy-aware design, least privilege, and SSDLC practices.
EXPERIENCE
8 or more years of software engineering, application development, or closely related experience.
3 or more years of hands-on Dynamics 365 CRM and Dataverse development experience.
Enterprise delivery experience across the full SDLC in Agile and DevOps environments.
Experience independently solving complex problems, guiding developers, supporting production applications, troubleshooting integrations, and completing root-cause analysis.
MANAGEMENT
No direct reports; may lead technical work and mentor engineers.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Enterprise CRM implementations, complex integrations, or high-volume Dataverse workloads.
PCF, Azure Kubernetes Service, containers, modern web frameworks, data migration, master data management, or event-driven architecture.
Professional services, regulated environments, distributed teams, or relevant Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365, or Azure certifications.
Strong technical ownership, communication, planning, collaboration, mentoring, and continuous-improvement skills.
