Seeking Experienced Data Scientist Sr for Exciting Projects Remote Mexico

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join an exciting project with one of the largest retail companies in Mexico. If you have a strong statistical background, hands-on experience building machine learning solutions, and enjoy solving complex business problems while collaborating with engineering teams, we'd like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate complex business challenges into data science and machine learning solutions.
• Design, develop, validate, and deploy statistical and ML models.
• Work with large-scale datasets using Python, SQL, and PySpark.
• Collaborate closely with ML Engineers and Data Engineers to deliver production-ready solutions.
• Apply rigorous statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and causal inference techniques.
• Document models, assumptions, limitations, and experiment results following engineering standards.
• Develop modular, maintainable, and reproducible Python code.

Technical Skills Required:

• Required Skills:

  • Master's or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Fluent in English (Advanced) B2  - C2
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Science, Statistical Analysis, or Applied Research.
  • Expert-level Python.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Scikit-Learn
    • XGBoost
    • LightGBM
    • Pandas
    • Polars
    • Statsmodels
    • SciPy
  • Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch when appropriate.
  • Advanced SQL and PySpark.
  • Experience working with cloud storage platforms such as GCS or Azure Blob Storage.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Experimental Design
    • Hypothesis Testing
    • Causal Inference
    • Model Validation
  • Professional experience using Git.
  • Experience with MLflow or similar experiment tracking tools.
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices, including versioning, modular code, and documentation.
  • Responsible use of Generative AI tools with the ability to validate and critically evaluate their outputs.

Location & Schedule:

• Remote work Mexico.
• Work hours Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 18:00
• Advanced English skills are mandatory, and only residents of Mexico
